Overview

In addition to photometric data, information about a fixture's features is vital to choosing any job's  lighting package. Below, we have included descriptions of features included in our final overview.

Wattage -  An amount of power, especially electric power, expressed in watts or kilowatts.  U.S. power (60 Hz AC, 240V/120V)

Watts = Volts x Amps

Battery

  • V-lock- aka the v-mount.  Mounts to the battery plate via a v-shaped locking mechanism. these batteries dismount by sliding up. Ranging in different sizes and voltages.

  • Gold mount- aka the AB (Anton Bauer) Mount, has a secure three gold-stud mounting solution. To dismount the battery, you have to slide it out from the battery plate sideways. Giving it a secure point. Ranging in different sizes and voltages.

  • P-tap- aka  D tap is the female power port found on the battery. Voltage between 7.2 to 16.8 volts.

  • Barrel Connector- 2.1mm DC barrel

Weather conditions for batteries: at 40ºC, they discharge at 15%. They charge faster and work better at lower temperatures, typically between 0ºC and 45ºC (32-113ºF). Li-ion batteries start losing their energy capability below 0ºC. batteries are okay for all other conditions between 0ºC and 45ºC (32-113ºF).

Equation:

Runtime (hours)= Battery Capacity (Watt hours) /Light's Power Draw (Watts)

Example :

Ds1- Runtime = (2*190Wh) / 140W

Runtime = 2.71 hours, or 162 minutes with 2 of those 190Wh batteries

IP rating - IP or "Ingress Protection"  ratings are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies ie. dirt, dust, and moisture.

Weight - in lbs

Source Description - How a fixture generates light.

CCT range - CCT stands for Correlated Color Temperature. It defines color, not brightness of a light source and is measured in degrees Kelvin.  Values are used to communicate the "warmth" or "coolness" of the light emitted by the source.

Effects - Lighting effects to choose from that are built into a fixture's programming.

Mounting size -

1 1/8th inch  28mm = JR. spud

5/8th inch 16mm = Baby  pin

Wireless - Built in wireless control for a fixture.

DMX - DMX stands for Digital Multiplex It is a digital signal protocol; it defines the structure of a signal that is sent by a lighting controller to fixtures. The DMX protocol defines a Universe  as 512 channels.  A DMX signal consisting of a header followed up to 512 channels of data. Each channel of data includes 8 bits of data, representing a value between 0-225.  Each channel values are refreshed 44 times a second the bandwidth required for DMX is 180Kbits/sec. DMX uses a 5pin XLR cable or a Cat5 cable. DMX signal can be transmitted wireless with a wireless transmitter and receiver.
